Ernesto Holman  is a renowned Chilean bass guitar player and composer. Member of the prestigious Latin American Fusion band Congreso between 1980 and 1984 and many other personal projects.

He is known as one of the most important jazz fusion and progressive rock electric bass guitar players in Chile, who has dedicated himself to implementing bass guitar as a melodic instrument as well as rhythmic in the local scene.

He later went deep into the Mapuche's world view, inspired by the sounds and rhythms of the trutruka or the kultrún in order to maker electronic music in "flesh and bones".

He would then never write music on the stave again, but directly into his electric bass guitar and by using computer software; this is how he released his albums Ñamco (2003) and Al Vuelo del Ñamco (2005), both dedicated to the sacred figure of the eagle.

In this spirit, Holman recorded his third album Mari Tripan-tu (2008), commemorating his tenth anniversary as a member of the Mapuche community Kallfulikán.

This last album includes instruments like the trompe, the wada and the kadkawilla, and in the recording he included real Mapuche musicians. With this record he won the 2009 Altazor award for Best Alternative-Jazz artist.

Finally, in 2010, he publishes the album Reversiones, with versions of songs included in other records and a new song recorded with musician and producer Gustavo Cerqueiras on piano, who made some adaptations as a trio, and Dany Cheul on drums.

This album stands out for having a much jazzier sound that his previous records. Nowadays,  Josué Villalobos, a prominent session drummer, has added a different energy to the band, with a stronger touch on the drums and control of sound dynamics which has make way for the band's ultimate development.

The band has travelled throughout all Chile on tours, giving concerts and performing at Jazz and World Music Festivals.

And internationally it does not lag behind, highlighting their participation in the Ollin Kan Festival (Mexico), Teatro Astor Piazzolla (Mar del Plata, Argentina), Sala Zitarrosa (Montevideo, Uruguay), Tum Tum (Brazil), Matik Matik (Colombia), Centro Cultural Kavlin (Punta del Este, Uruguay), EMMAT Berkley Colombia (Bogota, Colombia).

In 2015, they edited the album "Vivo en Brasil" with an important reception from the public and the specialized press. In 2016, they crowned this new stage, which started with their previous album, with the release of the "De Raíz", acclaimed by the press and the public for his spectacular concert at the Teatro Nescafé de las Artes.

This album takes the band to perform in such places like Colombia (Circulat 2016), South Korea and Toronto, honoring and positioning Etnojazz as necessary genre for these times.

In 2017, "De Raíz" and the band win the Pulsar Award for Best Fusion Artist, the higher award for music in Chile.
