HOLMAN TRIO TRIUMPHS AT THE 2017 PULSAR AWARDS

With their recent album "The Raiz", Ernesto Holman Etno Jazz Trio won the 2017 Pulsar Award for Best Fusion Artist of the Year. Last may 31, at the award ceremony that grants the highest recognition to national music, the band stood up in this category where names like Banda Quilín, Escaramuza, Tierra, Roberto Zamora and Jorge Vera were nominated. It has been a very good year for these Chilean etno jazz pioneer musicians. Several important milestones mark Ernesto Holman Etno Jazz Trio's recognition both in Chile and abroad, from the release of their album The Raiz at the Teatro NESCAFE de las Artes on April of 2016, to their recent award.

Within the last months, the trio made up by Ernesto Holman (bass guitar), Gustavo Cerqueiras (piano) and Josué Villalobos (drums) has performed on many stages to present this renowned album. Among them the Segundo Festival Chile Jazz (Santiago and Concepcion), “Circulart” Fair in Colombia and "Club de Jazz" in Medellin, “Tocatas Mil” at Sala Gam (Stgo a Mil), "Fluvial" Festival and Music Conference (Valdivia), and they just got back from a long tour in South Korea performing at the “Jazz Tonic” de Cheongju, “Jazz in Daegu” Festivals and at the music industry market "Seoul Music Week Seoul", and also at "Hugh's Room Live" in Toronto, Canada.

HOLMAN TRIO WILL REPRESENT CHILE AT SEOUL MUSIC WEEK IN SOUTH KOREA

Ernesto Holman is a renowned bass guitar player and composer, known as one of the most important jazz fusion and progressive rock electric bass guitar players, who has dedicated himself to implement bass guitar as a melodic instrument as well as rhythmic. creator of the etnojazz genre and founder of the fusion between Mupuche inspiration and this genre, "Ernesto Holman Etnojazz Trio" is a musical fusion of ancestral Chilean rhythms with elements from jazz like the language of improvisation.

 

The Seoul Music Week is a music fair in which musicians, producers, managers and agents from all over the world participate. It lasts three days and it has talks, concerts, business round tables and workshops.

Ernesto Holman Etnojazz Trio will perform on May 21 at the fair's showcase. They also added two extra shows on May 19 and May 20 at the Jazz Tonic of Cheongju and the Jazz in Daegu.
